I don't like the green stuff.

Auntie Ginnie is an amazing woman. She has a way of making everyone feel special, and well taken care of. She also knows the way to a little boy's heart...through his tastebuds! When Auntie Ginnie caught wind of the fact that Zachary loves her chicken soup, you know she was on the phone making plans to drop off a big pot of soup. Of course,  being Z, he had to make a special request, he doesn't like the green stuff (kale) in his soup. Which is okay, because apparently Uncle Billy doesn't like it either! Auntie Gin showed up, with a big pot of kale-less soup, and some crusty italian olive bread. Thanks Auntie for making the trip down to see us, and for always keeping our bellies happy!

dump it out

There is an instinct among children, I'm convinced, that toys are far more fun, when you dump them out all over the floor. Z is very happy that Elara is able to do a little more interacting and playing with him, and I'm happy to see Elara able to empty out a bin of toys and play a little independently. Of course, it's much more fun when you have a big brother like Z to play with!

New Karate

Z is gettin the hang of this Karate thing, and he really seems to slowly be getting over this recent shy stage. I couldn't be happier. It's hard to watch him fold in on himself, and not want to participate in the class. We would be driving to karate, and he would be full of excitement and ready to go, but once we were at class, he would just shut down. He would hide when it was his turn to practice a move, or he would just not listen to the teachers at all, preferring to come stand by me on the sidelines. Over the last few weeks he has really come how of his shell (and I don't feel like we are just flushing money on karate lessons!) Now he is participating, and listening to all of the teacher's directions, and he is so proud of himself! Last week was an obstacle course, and he went through the entire course, completing every obstacle three times. Go Z!

here and there

Hi Bloggies! Z here again. I'm really loving momma's camera, although she won't let me use it all the time. Especially if we're outside, and she's worried I'll drop it on the concrete. She needs to just let me take pictures for her blog--look how happy Elarie is when I take her picture! Sometimes I still let Momma take some pictures though, otherwise there wouldn't be any pictures of entirely awesome me! The first pictures on this post were taken in Iowa at my Nonna's and Poppa's house. I miss them, and ask all the time when I can go back to Iowa and see them. Hopefully we will go on another airplane ride soon. But this day, we are in Mystic Connecticut, in our house with the purple shutters.

Love,
Z

in the middle of the night...

The first four pictures on this post really were taken in the middle of the night. Elara was sick, and not sleeping well, and we kind of gave up around 3, and I just took her downstairs to play for awhile. She was sporting a super cute fauxhawk...Uncle Robert was especially fond of that look!
