BODY SLAM!

I took a look at the pictures for this post, and thought, Elara is giving Z a babaslam! Then I had a moment of, what in the world am I talking about? Oh yeah...that's the game of BodySlam Z used to play with Big Daddy Paul, Z called it babaslam. Looks like Elara is much like her big brother...she plays rough and likes to beat on her family!

Park-ing Spot

We were very lucky in Maryland, to have a park right outside our house. It wasn't very big, but it was definitely enough to keep Zachary entertained. Now that we are in Mystic, we are doubly lucky, not only do we have a little park right around the corner from our house, but we also have great friends to play with us!

on your knees

Zachary is your classic dumper. He picks up a bin of toys, and immediately proceeds to tip it over and let the contents rain down on the floor. Then he plays with the big ol' mess he has made. Elara on the other hand, she is a picker. She likes to sort through her toys, taking each one out and placing them in a fan around her. Studying the contents individually, assessing how and when she will play with each one. Ultimately, whether you are a picker or a dumper, your toys end up on the floor, and Momma (or this week, Grandma!) has to pick them up.

Elara has been really great at sitting up for months now, and she has graduated to both crawling, and sitting on her knees. She isn't much for standing on her feet, so I don't see cruising/walking happening soon, but she is great at pulling herself up on her knees. Just this week, I came in to her bedroom, and she had pulled herself up the side of her crib.

front porch

Warm weather and sunshine is making for a much happier Z and E...maybe because their Momma is happier! Over the cold winter months, I start to feel very cooped up inside. I daydream about all the time I'll spend in the garden, and the trips to the beach we will take. I think about farmer's markets, and pick your own strawberries. Of course then the hot summer comes, and it's hot and sticky, and I dream about air conditioning and ice cream, and my kids are keeping me from the garden, and a ten month old and a beach sounds like a terrible idea. Reality sets in with the 90 degree weather...but at least we have the spring weather, to get out of the house, color with chalk, get the garden ready for blooms, and shake off the cabin fever!

Teeth-E

My little ones are used to me being behind the camera, and trying to get them to smile at me. Zachary has even shown his interest in taking pictures. I wonder though how much is an interest in photography, and how much is an interest in using something of mine, that he probably shouldn't be using. Elara has some of the same obsessions. She makes a beeline for my phone the second she sees it. Then of course she wants to eat it, and now that she officially has two teeth, that is a much more dangerous activity! I'm a little sad that my gummy bear has finally broken two teeth, and I can't call her Toothless any longer. We have been lucky with teething though--she is happier than she has been her whole life. I should knock on wood and cross my fingers when I say that....
