When we flew home from Iowa after Thanksgiving, we were able to help Grandma Ann decorate her tree. I was hoping to snap a few pictures of the cousins sitting in front of the beautifully decorated tree. Alas, this year Elara was more or less cooperative, instead of the won't-hold-still-for-anything mess she was last year, but a full year later, it was Dominic's turn to refuse to pose for a picture. Maybe next year we'll do better than, "well, they're all in the frame and not crying!"

High 5!
Her shirt might say, "I'm not a princess, I'm a khalessi," but she can still build a tower, and high five her Poppa with the best of 'em!

home in iowa
A visit home to Iowa is listening to the clock strike on the quarter hour (at least when it's keeping time well!) It's being surrounded by love and support. It's eating-a lot, It's playing with your favorite Iowa toys. and seeing all your favorite Iowa people. When can we go back?
be with me
I think Elara, Zachary, Paul and I have this in common: we are at our happiest when we have our family close by. I love so much just to be with my family. It can be as simple as a quiet cup of coffee in the morning, or as elaborate as Thanksgiving dinner. Or, if you're E and Z, as simple as a bedtime story, or as elaborate as Animal Rescue League.
