Sleep Potion Number Z

Combine one part Grandma Ann, with one part nonstop playtime, sprinkle in a hearty breakfast and a long walk ow-sigh, top off with a comfy couch and a snuggly blanket and pillow, and presto! Sleepy Z.

Wicked Witch

Look at Z's slippers poking out from the end of the tunnel! Hey..You didn't really think I was referring to my mother in law as the wicked witch did you?

All By Myself....

Learning to do things by yourself is not an easy endeavor, and there are bound to be some messes. Feeding yourself yogurt would be one of those times when messes are simply unavoidable. But Z loves yogurt, and is always so happy when you plop the bowl down in front of him, and hand over the spoon. It ends up in his hair, and on the table and chair, and even on the curtain behind him, but his smile makes it all worth it. He will even open up the fridge and pull out a yogurt, walk over to his chair and climb up by himself, declaring loudly, "Eeee, eee, Yoyjo!" Who am I to deny him?

Flavor of the Week

I was sitting in the kitchen working on uploading the pictures for this blog post, when Zach wandered over. He got so excited seeing his Meem on the screen. Meem! Meem!

Then something caught his attention in the other room, I'm pretty sure it was Elmo's World, and he moved on. This is what it's usually like with Z. He approaches each obsession with intensity and enthusiasm, and then just as easily moves on to the next obsession. It's like this with his toys, and especially movies. He asked for nothing but Monster's Inc (muh-muh) for weeks, then suddenly it was Finding Nemo (neemo!) he was madly in love with. I was very happy when he moved on to loving Tangled (pri-pri  for Princess) and now he goes back and forth between Mulan (lahm) and the Prince of Egypt (ebu). Every once in a while he'll rekindle one of his old flames and ask for them again, but mostly it's this single-minded focus on his current flavor of the week. I just have to keep reminding myself when I wake up in the middle of the night with Disney songs running through my head, that in a few days he'll move on, and hopefully my brain will eventually recover.

Munchies

It was a long day at the zoo for my sweet Z, and much like the first visit, he didn't make it to the end. He had been munching on his goldfish crackers before he zonked out; and somewhere between falling asleep, and waking up, Z apparently thought he needed a snack. Why should falling asleep mean losing out on an opportunity to eat some fishies?

Third Times the Charm

Somehow, Z conned his way into three rides on the carousel. I think it went something like this, "Poppa, pleeease?" accompanied by some hand tugging and a desperate sign language please. Ride and Repeat.

He really did have fun, he helped pick out which animal he wanted to ride on, and then pointed forward yelling, "GO!!!" Then he held on tight the whole ride. Yelling out people's names as he came around the circle and saw them watching. He was not happy to give up a fourth ride. Although, I'm pretty sure the older boys were having just as much fun as him!

Sow Your Wild Goats

You'd think that the novelty of the petting zoo at Niabi would have worn off after the first visit, but then again, you aren't 22 months old. We had to apologize to the Llama again, Z still called him a cow. But the goats, oh how he loved them. Auntie Lizzie helped him get a true front row seat, even letting the goats eat right out of his hands! I of course, being Z's financier had to cough up the quarter for the feed, but it's Auntie Lizzie who gets all the glory.  Not that Z noticed, he was too busy getting to know all the goats.
