I'm so glad the weather is warming up, and it's getting easier to get outside, and let Z run around and play. Grandma Ann came for a visit, and brought a big bubble sword. Z was a happy little boy!

doctor's orders
Elara was already 3 pounds at her last ultrasound, big girl!
Oh my lovely babies, the things this Momma does for you. I shouldn't be surprised, but somehow I was anyway. 70 miles outside the quad cities my ob called to tell me not to leave on my trip. I have pre-eclampsia again with this pregnancy. With Z I was on bedrest starting at 31 weeks, and delivereed one day shy of 37 weeks. We got the orders at 29 weeks this go around, and I've been lounging around ever since. It probably sounds like a dream come true, sitting around all day, letting everyone else cook and clean and take care of Z. And it is wonderful for the first couple hours, then you start feeling lazy and demanding, isolated and helpless. I couldn't do this without my wonderful hubby and family. They have taken over caring for both Z and me without complaint. Plenty of teasing, as I am a lady of leisure for the time being, haha. But we are both well-fed and entertained thanks to everyone else's efforts!
Hopefully I have many more weeks of baby-baking ahead of me-we have ten weeks still to go to August 1st! It's a difficult road for us all, but Elara will certainly make up for all the hardship!

Skeptical Z is Skeptical
Seriously Momma? What do you mean I can't swim with the Belugas? I thought we were official members of the aquarium now. Next you're going to be telling me I can't feed the penguins..

Close to the Action
If there is a giraffe or red panda to be admired, or an ostrich to be ogled, Z is guaranteed to be as close as he can possibly get. Closer if Momma isn't paying enough attention!
Z, Zebras, and Friends
This was our first trip to the Roger Williams Park Zoo, and no surprise, Z loved it! Any animals will keep him entertained. Real, big, zoo animals (like Zebras!) will keep him happily entertained for hours. Although I will say that Roger Williams Park Zoo has a lot of dirt throughout the walkways in the zoo, and Z managed to find all of it. I split my time between dragging him away from one animal to the next, and in between animals, begging him not to keep picking up the dirt and throwing it!

Animals in the House
He never holds still. This time, he was running animals back and forth from the barn to the dinosaur house. At least this time I got to sit back on the couch and just watch him play!

Plenty of Fish in the Sea
In an effort to keep ourselves busy, get out of the house, and meet people near our new home, Z and I joined a playgroup; and we have had so much fun. This was our first outing, and we met up at the Mystic Aquarium. There were four other mom's who joined us, and believe it or not, 4 little boys close to Z's age. Zachary's cannot get enough of the aquarium, and his new friends!

Time for your Check-up!
All you need is a popsicle stick, a wavy red straw, and a big imagination, and you too can play doctor! Z wants to give everyone a full checkup (mommas and stuffed animals included). He was inspired by the new Disney show Doc McStuffins. He'll check your throat, your belly, and usually the top of your head, to make sure you're in tip-top shape to keep up with him in the playroom!

Strange
So a couple weeks ago, Zachary walked up to me and said, "Momma, you're so weird." I was flabbergasted, because it's not really something I'd ever said to him before. Sweet, handsome, loving, cute, smart...those are things I've certainly called him. Even silly is a common descriptor, but I couldn't think of when he would have been introduced to the concept of "weird." It's not that I don't call things weird, so after some discussion with Big Daddy Paul, we finally just brushed it off as something he'd picked up on me saying, even though I hadn't said it directly to him.
Today, Zachary asked to cuddle on the couch and watch a movie. And I finally figured out where he picked up on, "You're so weird."

Beady-Eyed
After watching Z and Jayden (along with their Grandmas!) playing with the lacing beads on Easter, I had to get some for Zachary to have here. It's great for fine motor skills, colors and counting, and for making Momma necklaces!
