Sweet Reward

Happy Birthday Big Daddy Paul! (it was only 2 months ago!) Hope you like a little cake with your frosting and sprinkles. Well, if any of the frosting actually made it on your cake. :) Zachary has become an awesome little helper in the kitchen. He mixes and measures and pours, and generally is slightly more helpful than he is messy.

BayBay

Elara had her 15 month check up this week. She was 23 pounds 10 ounces, and 32.5 inches. Flat-lining a little bit in her weight, she has been focusing on her inches--2 inches since her 12 month appointment! She's almost off the charts for her height. It's funny to compare her to Zachary. At his NINE month appointment he was 24 pounds 5 ounces and 29 and 3/4 inches tall. I'll have to find his 15 month numbers, I know they are in his baby box. Elara is hitting all her developmental milestones, she's walking, and chattering jibberish (and the occasional real word!) She follows simple directions, and will hand objects back and forth with another person--like her "baybay" in the picture. She hands you her baby, and expects you to rock it and sing it a lullaby, but then you had better give it back to her so she can love on it herself.

All's Fair

I love going to the fair. When you're outside enjoying the fresh air, everything is better. The food was delicious, of course when you're ordering caprese sandwiches and parmesan truffle frites from the Plouf Plouf Gastronomie food truck and iced apple cider lattes from Joedega, food can't help but be delicious. The weather was beautiful, and the kids were really well behaved. We logged a bunch of steps on my fitbit, just wandering around looking at the vendor booths, and pretty Slader Park. Zachary even braved up enough to get two angry birds painted on his hands. Dominic and Elara were happy to be pushed around all day, and Grandma Ann kept Zachary busy with all the toys and aliens. I even recreated Auntie Christine and Uncle JonJon's engagement photos!

We definitely need to make plans to go again next year!

The Short half-life of Serious

Even the most serious of first-day-of-school pictures can only last for so long, before Z's true personality starts to bleed through to the poses. I think I like the silly ones even more than the serious ones. Zachary is doing great at sea school, learning SO much about sea creatures, about being in a classroom of other kids, listening to teachers, and doing craft projects. In fact, he probably does a better job of listening to his teachers than he does to his momma! He really likes going to sea school, but his favorite days are the days when the get to interact and touch the animals. Definitely not something that would be happening at other pre-schools!

Raise the (sun)Roof!

This has become one of Zachary's (and perhaps Elara's) favorite activities. Grandma Ann turns on some music, let's the kids use her car as a jungle gym, and they couldn't be happier. You're a brave woman Grandma Ann. :)
