Better than Ever

A regular morning at the Corriveau house...
Z wakes up between 6 and 7 am; and after a diaper change, we play in the living room or cuddle up on the couch to watch PBS. It won't be long before Z is asking to eat, specifically Cheeyos?, Wahfas?, and AAAYS? I'm not usually ready for breakfast as early as he is, so I'll make myself an iced coffee or some tea. After making him the grand breakfast buffet, I have a chance to do a blog post, or load the dishwasher.

This sure beats the heck out of fighting I95 traffic for an hour plus every morning!

my kitchen is a wonderland

I like my kitchen, because it's bright and open, my curtains are cheery, and my refrigerator is full of delicious (mostly) healthy food. Zachary likes it because it's a race track, a slip and slide, a rock climbing wall, an obstacle course, a great place to play hide and seek, and it's full of cabinets to hide his little animals in. Meals are just a happy bonus for him.

DREAM!

Z certainly thought he was livin' the dream. Uncle Jon-Jon and Auntie Cri-Cri hanging out with him in the living room, rough housing, and watching Tangled. Auntie Cri-Cri even serenaded him with his favorite song from Tangled, I've Got a Dream. Although honestly, I don't remember for sure, she might have been singing, I'll Make a Man Out of You, from Mulan.

The Z Diet

Here is the perfect recipe for weight loss!

Cut up a loaf of crusty multi-grain bread, layer it with a fresh-from-the-farm tomato and creamy mozzarella, and drizzle it all with olive oil and white balsamic vinegar. Then try to take one bite before Z grabs your hand and says, "Come. Play."

get IN on the fun!

Yes, Z now pretends to sleep, complete with over-the-top snoring sound effects. And he'd prefer to have a pillow to pretend sleep on. Well, he also now sleeps with a pillow in his toddler bed, so I guess it makes sense that he wants to pretend sleep with a pillow too. Hysterical, regardless.

Besides fake sleeping, Z loves to play IN. If I haven't described IN before, it is basically a game where Z puts his toys in something, and then you help push them out, and he starts putting them back in. Usually he uses his red barn, and all of his Little People animals. The variation of IN that he is playing in these pictures involves pushing the toys between the legs of this table. He's always coming up with new ways to amuse himself--and I love that he's becoming more and more independent during playtime.

a wild hair..

It was time. Z needed a haircut. It's far more traumatic for me, than it is for him. He happily sits in Daddy's lap, slurping on a sucker. I think he'd happily sit through anything if you gave him a sucker.

Maybe this would be easier for me if I had a sucker too? I just think Z is so unbelievably adorable (I'm his mother, I can't help it...) that I find it difficult to let go of one haircut for another. Even when his hair is in his eyes, and tickling his ears. I just don't know how a haircut could possibly make him cuter than he already is. Then we cut it, and I kick myself for not doing it sooner--because he's just so blasted cute!

Zachary, it's what's inside.

Oh Zachary, my sweet child. There's nothing better than coming back from the bathroom and finding you gone missing. As if my blood pressure wasn't borderline high already, and I didn't have a natural tendency towards over-reacting.Thank goodness you find your own antics amusing, and can't help but giggle at your insubordination. I love you my dear, but you may just be the death of me.

Champions

Z looks like such a big boy sitting at the table with his Daddy. He still says "Chi-ohoh," so he's not completely grown up yet, but with his 2nd birthday coming up, I have to wean myself off of calling him my baby! We still haven't introduced him to juice, but with as happy as he is with milk and water, and whole fruit, I haven't seen any reason to. He isn't always the best eater, but breakfast is still his meal of choice (wah-fah, chi oh-oh, and aaaaay!) He'll even go back for a second breakfast when Paul comes down. He wants to sit next to Daddy, and have a little post-breakfast snack.

dinner and a movie

Paul has introduced Zachary to the wonder of Bugs Bunny, Wile E. Coyote, Road Runner and their various friends..and Z approves! It even keeps him occupied enough to scarf some broccoli while he's good and distracted. And this Momma approves of that!

comfiest.daddy.ever.

Zachary not only has the comfiest daddy ever, but he somehow managed to snag one of the best ones too! Paul is such a hands-on dad, always playing with Z, and making sure he's fed and clean and happy. He has even taken to going for a walk with Z everyday after work. Z and Paul get some bonding time, and some exercise, and I get some free time! Thanks Daddy/Paulie!

Pass the crackers...

Because this kid knows how to cheese it up!

Grandma Ann came down for a weekend visit, and played nonstop with Z, giving Paul and I much appreciated break. Come back soon Grandma Ann..please!!

Pool Shark

Z is such a little waterbug. If he catches sight of a pool, a lake, a tub, a puddle or even just a drop of water, he is all over it. Or rather, all in it. He wants to splash and kick and try to sneak a drink of it. And good luck ever getting him out... He's usually a total raisin by the time he's worn out enough to give up and stop splashing!
