On Track

The influx of new toys at Christmas is fun for boys of all ages. Poppa was having a lot of fun playing with Z and his new race track. We've had to instate a new rule at our house. I grabbed a ton of Zachary's toys, and carried them down to the basement. There just wasn't enough room for all of his toys + all of his new toys from Christmas (and his birthday in September!) It doesn't help that Elara now has a pretty good pile of toys going in the room. So now, if Z wants any of his toys from the basement, he has to pick one of his current toys to go down. It's helping cut back on the clutter, and makes his toys seem new, fun, and exciting again.

Bloggies

Hi bloggies! It's me, Z. Momma is lettin me do a guest post today. She's busy with cleaning, or playing with Elara, or making dinner, or reading her kindle. She's always doing something, I can't keep track of her. I know you're used to seeing me as the star in Momma's posts, cheesing for the camera. But on this day, I got to use Momma's camera, and I get to be the talent behind the blog post! I didn't realize how much work this would be though, and I think I'm going to need a piece of square cheese, and maybe a rest.

I love you more than all the lions,
Zachary

smoosh

This winter has been terrible for us. We are just so sick! By the time we are finally recovering from one case of the sniffles, the next cough is already spreading. Mommas don't get sick days, and they can forget about sleeping in or napping. So this has been a particularly trying season. Hopefully we are just adjusting to the new set of germs in Connecticut, and we are healthier next winter.

Also, these pictures might help explain why I catch every single one of the colds the kids get...

over the river..

We love going over the river for a visit with Grandma and Grandpa. Z wants to sit on "Momma's flower bed," which is actually grandma's bed, with a flower quilt. Not sure where he got that idea, but he is insistent. Grandma thinks it's because every place we visit, we have a bedroom and a bed that is ours. So he assigned me grandma's bed.

Now we are looking forward to seeing Grandma and Grandpa tomorrow! They are going to spend two weeks with us in Mystic. Zachary can't wait for them to get here!

Coffee: A Hug in a Cup

We went to visit Auntie Kitty at (one of!) the coffee shops she works at. It was great seeing the talented barista busy at work, and even more great to enjoy the coffee she made for us. Plus we got to visit with her on her break! Zachary, not surprisingly, scored an entire cup of whipped cream!

cuties

It's winter still. I try (valiantly, I think) to keep us busy, and outside the house. But there are plenty of days when the cold keeps us hunkered down. I like the crisp wind of fall, and the relief it brings from the hot summer sun, but after a few months of dark days and dirty, wet snow, I miss the sunshine and the warmth. I missed out on most of the summer last year. Being cooped up on bed rest, and recovering after Elara was born, left me very, very pale. There are plenty of things I enjoy in the winter though, and I need to step back and appreciate them. I can't enjoy the bright freshness of a clementine, without little hands reaching out for a share. (The clementine brand, Cuties, are my favorite!) This is only time of year we can get out and go for "snow walks" like we did today. Straight out the door, Z picked up a snowball, and carried it with us almost the whole walk. He wanted to bring it home to Daddy, but decided it would be fun to crush it on the street instead. I'll be happy when summer sunshine returns, but at least I'm cooped up with two of my favorite cuties!
