Beach Babes

Oh my goodness--I can't wait for some more summer sun and fun with these cute little beach babes! We went to Harkness State Park, got our feet sandy and got some sun on our noses. Looks like we're going to have a fun summer!

Electricity Man

Took me awhile to get this typed up, but I promise it was worth the wait!

"Electricity Man" by Zachary 2/9/15
A New Superhero

He makes anything he can imagine out of electricity.

He can make more electricity.

He can make all the super heroes out of electricity.

He got his powers as a kid, but unplugging a magical cable.

He joins the X-men.

He gets along only okay with Wolverine.

His personality is "actiony, tough, and cool."

He can eat electricity.

He has a rocket ship, jet and car, made out of Electricity.

He's a grown-up, has an Electricity Beard, long spiky hair--colored blue, and an X-men belt.

and here's a picture:

This is gravity man:

And this is my little superhero:

Go Marker-ing

Oh my goodness. Do you have any idea the amount of paper and art supplies we go through in this  house? They can go through an entire notebook in a matter of days! Thank goodness it's warm enough now I can send them out to play with the sidewalk chalk.

They love any and all kinds of crafts. Even if I just make stuff up, like, let's cut a hole in a paper plate and decorate it. Is it a wreath? A crown? A steering wheel? It's been all those things and more. They're just happy to go "marker-ing" and use stickers. Oh, and never forget the pipe cleaners and googly eyes--they love those things!

CRUSH IT!

Poppa and Nonna know how cool Zachary thinks geodes are (made by lava--of course he thinks they are amazing!) So when they saw an opportunity for him to crack open his own geodes, they snagged up the woot deal, and sent the geodes off to Connecticut.

Zachary was ecstatic.

I was insistent that we wait until the weekend when Big Daddy Paul could help, much to Z's annoyance. After a few days of impatience, we were finally able to take the geodes out to the backyard and do some investigating. Elara and Zachary took turns picking out rocks, putting on the safety goggles, and examining the geodes with the magnifying glass after Daddy (or Zachary!) cracked them open with a hammer.  Z even took them in to school for show and tell, along with the identification book they had been using to figure out what kind of geodes they were.

My little scientists were very happy. :) Thanks Nonna and Poppa!

April Showers...Bring the Mayflower

And Zachary's Spring Break To-Do List brings us to the Mystic Seaport for a Pirate Days treasure hunt! We went with some friends for some extra Arrr and Arrr, and really had a great time. We got to see the Mayflower II before she sailed back to Plymouth, met up with some fun pirates and mermaids, sang pirate songs, made our own swords, and even got pirate names. Zachary was Swabby McScurvy! At the end of the day they raided the treasure chest--Zachary picked out a gold doubloon, and Elara picked out a necklace. We had a sword fight, and a lot of fun!
