We've done the aquarium thing before. Lots of times actually--we're members! But we've never had a trip quite like this one. Nonna and Poppa were with us, and things were seeming fairly normal. The Belugas were playful, the penguins were aloof, and then we got to the sting ray touch tank portion of the tour. Zachary and I were elbows deep in the tank, (not so) patiently waiting for a sting ray to swim up to us. There was a bit of a commotion on the other side of the tank. And Nonna was in the middle of it. The staff at the aquarium ask that you take off all rings and bracelets before you put your hands in the tank. Well, Nonna was taking off her wedding band and...BUMP. She watched as her ring drifted somewhere to the bottom of the tank. Three aquarium staff members, a big net, and nearly thirty tense minutes later, we had learned that they never clean out the tank completely, and that we could leave a name and number at the front desk on the off chance that it showed up someday. Then, a little glint at the bottom of the tank, a scoop of the net, and hooray! The ring was back on her finger, and Zachary finally got to touch a sting ray. Now that's an exciting trip to the aquarium!!
