Monstrously Cute

It doesn't get much cuter than this. Elara is such a chunker right now (and she's exactly 4 months old today!) I know she is going through a growth spurt, she's up all night eating, and just isn't sleeping as well. I should have known the easy nights weren't going to last for long! E has her four month checkup right after Thanksgiving, and I'm curious about how much she has grown.

These were her stats at her 2 month appointment:
12 pounds 6 oz 90th percentile
22 inches 90th percentile

 Head circumference 50th percentile.

We'll see where she stands next week. I cheated a little though, and weighed her on my scale here, and she was already up to about 16 pounds. If we're lucky over the holidays, I'll lose as much weight as she is gaining. =)

Happy Thoughts

My kids just make me happy. It's that simple. No matter how tired I am, or how cranky they are, they never cease to make me smile. Zach has this awesome sense of humor--the other night he says to me, "Goodnight Becca!" Just to tease me. I asked him if that was my real name, so he responds, "Oh, okay. Goodnight, Rebecca!" Elara also thinks her brother is hysterical, and belly laughs whenever he goofs around for her. He was spinning in circles, and falling down, and she just laughed and laughed at him. How can you not be happy with these two in your life?

Game On

I have to admit, I love when Christine and Jonathan come down for the weekend, and it's not just because they keep Zachary entertained and Elara cuddled! I love that we all lounge around in our pjs, play board games, eat good food, watch the football game, and spend most of the time just talking and talking and talking. There is nothing better than family that crosses over into real friendship, and that is what we have with Christine and Jonathan. Love you guys!!!

Awareness

This is either a fake out picture, or a glimpse of what was to come. It really looks like Grandma Ann has Elara engaged and paying attention while she reads this dinosaur book. But I am over a month behind on blog posts (thank you to my children, and Hurricane Sandy) and Elara's awareness has really only blossomed over the last week to two weeks. She brightly smiles when she sees someone, laughs at her brother's antics and is starting to play with (and nom on!) her toys.

Zachasaurus

Talk about an awesome third (and thirtieth!) birthday party! The people, the presents, the provisions!

Okay, so provisions may be a bit of an alliterative reach, but the food was really good, especially the cake. Auntie Christine and Uncle JonJon commisioned the super awesome brontosaurus cake. If you look through the pictures, Auntie Millie gave props to the vegetarian dinosaur, feeding it celery and tomato, much to Zach's amusement. I love that Zachary covers his ears whenever you sing happy birthday to him, and Zachary loves that Grandma Ann bought him a black motorcycle, and the Garrotts bought him dinosaur mountain. These are the events that make moving close to family so wonderful. Thanks to everyone for making the trip to Mystic and helping us celebrate two very special birthdays.
