They See Me Rollin..

So, I want to know, all those people who claim to have "caught their baby's first steps on camera," what are you claiming as first steps? Walking, much like talking, is a constant evolution to mastery. You learn the syllables and the sounds, then you start putting them together, and at first it's nonsense, but slowly you start communicating how much you really want that banana, and suddenly your mom understands your grunts and gestures and tears, and you're sitting at the table eating the banana. Elara pulls herself up to standing, and cruises around on the couch, she even climbs up on the couch, and cruises around ON the couch. She doesn't need us to hold both hands anymore, but still relies on at least one finger to help her find her balance and teeter drunkenly all over the house. She loves to move, and is very insistent that we take her in the direction she chooses, and no, not two hands, just one, but don't you dare let go of that one hand, because there will be a flop to the ground and probably tears. She'll take a few steps between two people if you encourage her, and it's becoming less and less throwing herself forward and trying to let her feet keep up, and more drunken zombie walking. But is she walking? Has she taken her first steps? Maybe she's taken her first steps, but I wouldn't say she's "walking" yet. But we're getting really close!
